Surrey Country Show May 2015.

We've been to The Kent County Show and it is absolutely huge. You could buy everything from an egg to farming machinery costing hundreds of thousands of pounds. So when we saw an advert for the Surrey Country Show we decided to give it a go. It was much smaller than than the Kent show, not as much stuff to buy and not as many animals and very much aimed at the horse riding fraternity. There were lots of places selling horsey paraphernalia.
There was an arena with an endless stream of  small girls riding round in circles on little ponies and there was also a bit of show jumping

We soon got bored with that and wandered over to look at the judging of the farm animals.
When we went to the Kent show we could go in the marquees and look at the animals, they also did a big parade at the end so that people could see all the animals together. That was brilliant as you could see all the different categories at once. However , they didn't do that this time and we couldn't get really close to take photos. It was also quite quick so they were moving away before I had time to take a photo. Did get a few though.

These Bulls were huge, as big as their handlers.

And these, not so huge.
Lots of different sheep

And some pigs.
Not sure what he was giving this pig, but it was enjoying it.

It was all a bit shambolic as they were judging all the animals at the same time but in different locations so we missed  quite a bit.
One place where we did see everything in one place was the Chicken Tent. I had no idea there were so many different types of cockerel. The noise was incredible.

Fat ones

Skinny ones

White ones

And plain ugly ones

As well as all the Chooks they had tables of eggs, some intact, others cracked and on plates to show the colour of the yolks

The whole event was being filmed, we think, by this
A sign of the times!
