Lots of caravans and lots of oldies, which was fine as the whole site was totally silent by about 10:00 pm. Not a child in sight. I don't think they are encouraged at this site, there is nothing to attract families at all. However, the facilities were excellent, separate shower block, big clean toilet block and a laundry, all spotless and by the looks of it ,new.
The area is beautiful. The Vanguard way was accessible from the camp site and we could have walked for miles. As the whole area is very flat , when the tide comes in some roads get flooded completely.
We visited the Heritage Museum at Amberley. Loads of exhibits and things to look at but so depressing as lots of the stuff on display we remembered having when we were kids and lots of the phones and kitchen equipment we actually owned! There was a big display dedicated to communication, incredible to think how much that has changed just in our life time. The phones we thought were cool and groovy now look ridiculous. Oh how we loved our two tone trim phone.
In this photo the "model" is wearing a state of the art hair dryer . I had one. The bag inflated with hot air that was generated by a machine that you wore on your waist. It was supposed to mimick the big hair dryers in salons. Trouble was it didn't! All you got was a hot sweaty head and back ache from lugging the blower unit around. After about 4 hours you gave up and plugged in your Carmen Rollers. These monstrosities were guaranteed to burn your fingers and as they were so heavy they also gave you a wicked headache . So after about 6 hours you were ready to shake your booty to music you had recorded on your super smooth tape recorder which was the size of a small suit case or watch what you had hopefully recorded on your state of the art video recorder.
It was a really good day out for people of my generation, mainly because we had experienced using a lot of the stuff either at work or at home.
Looks lovely! Nice tent. And I remember getting my finger stuck in one of your carmen rollers.....
