Saturday

Today we went for "a quick trip" to a nearby national park, which consisted of an 18 mile circular drive on Mum's favourite roads. She didn't know whether to weep, wee or womit.

It was pretty scary.

Evening entertainment

Tonight, we have been "entertained" by a Cuban singer from Barcelona(?). Doing Michael Jackson impressions!

Del Boy's "cwying" act has got nothing on this boy.

Cartagena

The Murcia region enjoys 320 days of sunshine every year. Today was one of the other 45 (or 46 this year). It did brighten up a bit this afternoon.

This morning, we went to Cartegena, which is a very strange mixture the old, the new and the plain weird! Lots off old buildings being knocked down and replaced by new ones with a couple of extra floors on top.

Stopped off at a local beach on the way back, and discovered two small beach cages. They had 5 customers between them and there were two other people on the beach. Crowded!

Quiet or what?

Been to the beach again today. Found the (deserted) main beach at Puerto de Mazarrón. Resort is also deserted. It is a victim of the recession, hence rock-bottom property prices.

Levada Walk

More scary driving today. Drive to Rabacal to start of the Risco levada walk. Very high, so v cold. Superb views.

The on to Calheta, the only sandy beach - man made. Watched workmen "cleaning the cliff". What a job!

The north west

Drove over mountains to the north of the island today. Spent the whole time in second gear; going up cos the car won't go up otherwise; going down to avoid burning out the brakes.

Interesting allotment on the attached photo.
