Last few days

The last few days.

I should have done this before we left but it's a bit hard to write when your eyes are all teary. We had a fabulous time, not only getting to know the adorable Tom but also being part of the life Jon and Vic have made for themselves. This blog is going to be a random selection of photos, some from the last day and also some of my favorites from the trip, so apologies if you've seen them before.
One of many cafe visits for brunch

Just worn out

 On the beach at Lorne

Just perfect. Soaking up the rays.

We were invited to lunch by Vicky's friend Amanda. They live in a beautiful house in Macadon about an hour or so inland from Melbourne. It turned out that Amanda's husband Richard works for the same company as Nick. Tom was quite taken with this chook.

More brunch. It was an enormous bowl of porridge with fruit, nuts and flakes of coconut. Couldn't finish it
On Sunday afternoon we tried our hand at "barefoot bowls". It's good fun, very casual and friendly.
Vic and Jon were just too good at it, we were rubbish.
Jep, I'm listening dad but I don't think I can do it.
 Bath Time.

These balloons passed over Vic's house. They were very low as they were coming in to land. We could hear the gas jets as they passed.

This next set of photos were all taken in Fitzroy Gardens. It's fairly near Vic's work and we spent our last afternoon there.

It was so hot that Tom got to have lots of nappy free time when we were out. Well clothes free time really. He loved it.

Miniature village donated by the people of Lambeth as thanks for help during the war.

     So thats  it.
It will be a long time before I can hold this little hand again but he will always be in my thoughts and in my heart along with the family he has yet to meet.

MGC tour

MCG Tour and museum.

Today we did a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Museum.

Plenty of opportunities  for photos although Tom wasn't really that impressed

The changing room.
I was expecting it to be a bit more luxurious than this.

The interview  room. Before we started the tour we were told to keep up with the guide at all times, we were also told that it was "pram friendly"Both statements as it turned out were a bit of a big fat fib! The guide scooted off like a greyhound and there were hundreds of steps. It was a bit of a mission to keep up and it was hard to get photos. It would have been good to have got Malc sitting here.
It is enormous. They use it for footie during the off season

This photo is nothing to do with the MCG but it is easy to see from the ground. It's the Sky Tower on the South Bank. We went up last year and the views are fabulous. You can pay extra to go onto the viewing platform. As you enter the walls appear to fall away and you find yourself  on this bit that sticks out. It has a glass floor so it gives people a huge shock.

 The members bar
 Very swish.

This is part of a huge tapestry showing people engaged in lots of different sporting activities

The founders of the MCG. Just five men.
After lunch we went into the museum. We thought it was just going to be a museum about the MCG and cricket. It was actually a museum of sport and it was huge, not what we were expecting at all. There was a separate section for cricket and we could have spent all day just looking round.
This is Don Bradman widely acknowledged as the greatest test cricketer of all time.
Apart from all the displays there was also a huge interactive area. It was largely deserted so Malc made the most of it.

One of the sections was about paralympians
This is a reinforced wheelchair that had been used for wheelchair rugby. It was really bashed about.
They must knock seven bells out of each other!

This display was in the horse racing section. It was very cleverly done and showed how the muscles move when the horse is put through its paces.

It was a brilliant day out and we were totally worn out at the end of it.
